Tennessee Bound - Across the Plains of Kansas

Once again, I apologize for such late and sporadic posts about our trip to Tennessee.  I only had Internet when we would have time to stop by the local Starbucks.  Which by the way was over 6 miles away!

Since this post is going to be pretty short, I thought it might be fun to add a map of our route.

So this post is about our day on Oct 22. That morning we continued on I70 after leaving Denver Colorado. Our destination on this day, Kansas City Missouri.

I must warn you, this was a pretty boring drive, with not much to see or do except for the occasional stop for stretching and gas. I’ve been on this route once before when I drove to East Kansas for my mother’s funeral service back in 1999. I thought maybe driving it once more would be a bit more interesting since this time was for a much happier occasion. We did however see this beautiful church just before we left Colorado.

So no pictures of beautiful scenery or landmarks. Well except for maybe the oil drills that dotted the Plains.

Next stop, Nashville Tennessee!

  1. It's much like driving through the prairie provinces, well mostly Saskatchewan. Some people love the uninhibited expanse of prairie and skies that stretch on forever, but I like the hills, ravines, mountains, lakes, rivers, etc. I guess I need to visit northern Saskatchewan to see more of what that province has to offer.

  2. It's amazing that you were able to get a signal so far from Starbucks! I must admit that I would also find this drive rather boring.

  3. Great photos! I have an award for you on my blog!

  4. Debbie, what you do (if you want, of course) is copy the award (save photo as...), and put it into your blog post. You are supposed to share 7 things about yourself (or however many you want, really). You then pick a few blogs to pass the award on to.

Sounds like you have been busy so you may not have time right away... : )

  5. Glad to see you back and posting! You did manage to make an interesting post out of not too much, I enjoyed it! Remember, the Seinfeld show was the best, and it was about nothing!

  6. This kind of countryside is totally unusual to me that I find it fascinating. Love those mysterious looking oil wells.
